Wine Country Real Estate
In Northern California

spring vineyard

Owning California wine country real estate is a dream coveted by many city dwellers, suburbanites and retirees. Imagine gazing out your kitchen window onto your own vineyard.

Living in wine country means small town community life, beautiful scenery and the earthy satisfaction of agricultural life mixed with some of the finest in gourmet restaurants.

If you need or want to stay close enough to commute to San Francisco, then Napa and Sonoma Counties are your best bet, though more expensive and (relatively) more crowded.

But if you want to be further out in the countryside, away from the city hubbub, you might consider Mendocino County or Lake County in the Northern California coastal region, or one of the wine regions in the Sierra foothills.

In the past few years, the price of real estate in wine country has skyrocketed, as it has in most other parts of California. As in other areas, prices tend to be higher in the hills, and lesser in the lower valleys. If you do buy at the lower elevations, take care to consider the potential for occasional flooding.
