Vineyard Weddings
For the ultimate in a romantic setting, vineyard weddings combine earthy beauty with elegance and fine cuisine. The heady scents and the endless cycles of the grapevines project fertility and timelessness.
When choosing a location for your wedding and/or reception, you must consider the season. The summer offers warmth and full, green leafy vines. Outdoor settings may be too warm in some cases, and a canopy may be advisable and lots of water for your guests, particularly the elderly ones.
In fall comes harvest time, and the vines may be heavy with grapes. Later in the season, the leaves turn brilliant shades of reds, orange and golds, and the air is crisp, my favorite time in the vineyards.
Winter may bring lots of rain and the vines may be barren, but you are more likely to get the date you want. Plus, no one will get overheated. Also, a tent or canopy and heat lamps can help prepare your event for any adverse weather.
In spring, the buds break out on the vines. For a few short weeks, the vineyard can be aglow with brilliant yellow mustard plants.
Most wine country weddings will be within view of the vineyard, whether indoor or outdoor, but when you call or go to the website, double check that particular winery's facilities. The following pages list wineries that offer wedding and/or reception locations and services:
