Central Coast wine tasting in California extends to the northern end of Monterey Bay, in the Santa Cruz region. From Soquel, just south of Santa Cruz California along Highway One, to the north and inland in the Santa Cruz Mountains and almost to the outer edges of San Jose, you'll find wineries to visit. You'll experience a mixture of coastal breezes, tall redwoods, and warm sunshine in the summer. Going wine tasting at Santa Cruz wineries makes for a great day trip from Monterey, 44 miles to the south, or San Jose, 30 miles to the northeast. San Francisco is about a one and a half to two hour's drive away, depending on traffic. It's best to choose only 3-5 wineries to visit per day, to maximize the whole wine country experience without overdoing it.
