The majority of Willamette Valley wineries are in the northern section, but the entire valley extends roughly between Portland (Oregon's largest city) in the north and Eugene in the south. The north part of the valley includes the area from Portland to north of Albany, where the South Willamette Valley begins.

The cool temperatures here are ideal for producing Pinot Noir, for which the North Willamette Valley is world famous.

The wineries included in this list are not all that are out there, but they do have tasting rooms open to the public.

Many of the North Willamette Valley wineries can be accessed from Highway 99, which runs through the region. McMinnville is a good place to find a bed & breakfast or motel in the heart of this wine country.

For ease of planning your wine country tour, the following wineries are divided into sections according to the nearest town where you might want to base your day trip. However, all are within a reasonable drive from Portland, which is where the most hotels, museums and restaurants are, as well as the major airport.

The sheer amount of wineries in the North Willamette Valley can be overwhelming; choose a just a few per day and allow time for exploration and discovery.
