McKeon-Phillips Winery brings to California’s Central Coast the very best of the European and Early-American style of making fine wines. McKeon-Phillips Winery is essentially a family-run operation that makes small lots of the highest quality premium wines. Ardison Phillips, the proprietor and winemaker, has a masterfully eclectic background that makes him a living icon on the Central Coast. He is an internationally collected and recognized artist. His artwork hangs in, and is collected by, major museums throughout the world. He studied art with some of the most important figures and teachers of the last hundred years, and his work spans a variety of styles: abstract, expressionist, figurative and representational to completely and indescribably original. He has designed virtually all of the labels that adorn the bottles of the McKeon-Phillips wines, with the exception of three labels that were designed by his son Bailey. Each bottle is hand labeled, and every label has a story. Ardison developed his love of food and wine while touring Europe, and discovered the magic of harmony and balance that could be achieved through the proper pairing of food and wine. He went on to open and run the landmark West Hollywood restaurant, The Studio Grill. For years, The Studio Grill restaurant was a standard bearer of quality and innovation in cuisine and service, and was frequently noted for its extensive wine list. At heart, Ardison is an educator and a visit to the winery or tasting room will most often find him there, encouraging you to pull up a seat, get comfortable and enjoy and learn about the fruits of his labor.
