Healdsburg Vacation
In Wine Country

Why not plan a Healdsburg vacation around the Russian River and surrounding wineries in this Northern Sonoma County town?

Central to the Russian River Valley, the Dry Creek Valley and the Alexander Valley, Healdsburg California is the perfect base for a wine country weekend. Not only are there several wine tasting rooms right in town within walking distance of each other, but it also is convenient to touring the Dry Creek Valley, the Russian River Valley and the Alexander Valley wineries.

Located near the northern end of Sonoma County, this is a charming wine country destination with a small town feel. The downtown section is centered around a large Spanish style plaza, much like the town of Sonoma.

Around the plaza and along side streets, you will find art galleries, boutiques, cafes, gourmet restaurants and over fifteen wineries. This is perfect for a wine tasting walking tour.

In addition, there is a very unique museum called the Hand Fan Museum and the Healdsburg Museum, which has local historical information and various exhibits.

About a block away from the plaza is the Visitor's Bureau where you can get more information for your Healdsburg vacation on things like area wineries, restaurants and lodging, as well as a calendar of current events. Their phone number is 707-433-6935.

The Russian River snakes along through town, and if you're there in summer, Veteran's Memorial Beach Park at the south end of town is a good place for a refreshing dip.

Less than a half-hour away up at the northern end of the Dry Creek Valley is Lake Sonoma with boating opportunities. At the Visitor's Center is a fish hatchery with indoor exhibits and outdoor walkways to a fish ladder where you can watch salmon jump upstream (in season).

A great way to explore wine country around here is by bicycle. There is a company called Wine Country Bikes, which offers both fully guided and self-guided tours on various bikes. For more information, call 707-473-0610.

Healdsburg is the perfect place to find a hotel or a bed and breakfast , since it is central to over sixty wineries within a thirty-minute drive.

Some of the most popular local dining choices include Willis Seafood & Raw Bar, Manzanita, Zin Restaurant and Wine Bar, Bistro Ralph and Cyrus Restaurant, to name just a few.
