Fruit, Cheese, and Wine Adventure Basket

by anonymous submission

My ideal wine and cheese basket would include a variety of different kinds of food and drink in a woven, willow basket. The basket would be wide and shallow with a curved handle. The cheese and fruit would be individually wrapped in green tissue paper, and would include juicy Bosc pears, shiny red apples, large navel oranges, and a fragrant pineapple. The basket might also contain purple grapes, a few mangoes, and an assortment of other citrus fruit, such as lemons, limes, and kumquats.

Cheeses would include an assortment of hard cheeses such as English Cheddar, cave-aged Gruyere, a tangy Parmesan, and a robust Romano. Soft cheeses that I would enjoy would be a creamy wheel of Brie, a pepper-encrusted log of goat cheese, and some salty feta cheese in a container.

With this food, I would include an assortment of white wines, including a tart Sauvignon Blanc, a mellow Albarino, and a buttery Chardonnay. The whole basket would be wrapped in a green-tinted cellophane, and tied up with a large gold ribbon. I would call this the “Fruit, Cheese, and Wine Adventure Basket.”
