The Dry Creek Valley wine region extends from Healdsburg at the southern end towards Lake Sonoma at the northern end, on the west side of Highway 101. Healdsburg is a great place to start your wine country excursion. Like Sonoma, it is built around a town square. There are tasting rooms within town as well.
Then head up Dry Creek Road as far north as the Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery. This is a must-see with its beautiful gardens. You can backtrack a bit and cross over to West Dry Creek road via Yoakim Bridge Road. Heading south, you'll pass more wineries before crossing back over to Healdsburg via Westside Road.
