A Gift Basket to Share

by anonymous

What would I want in a wine basket? Why wine of course! But I’d want very nice wine and goodies to go with it. My friends know I like red and some whites. So I’d expect Pinot Noir, Merlot, or Sangiovese; perhaps a Pinot Grigio or Riesling. All at the appropriate drinking age.

A wine opener, a quality one so it will become a keepsake, and a foil cutter. Nice cheese, such as aged Cheddar, Gouda, and soft cheese, like Brie or Brillat Savarin.

Gotta have crackers! Water crackers, wheat crackers with a little sweetness to them, and some thin handcrafted crackers. Cornichons, tiny French pickles, along with some good Italian or Greek olives, green and black, and maybe some marinated mushrooms. They would know to add tasty dry-roasted nuts, such as smoked almonds.

Need appropriate wine glasses for whatever the wine, and they should be very elegant or unique. Pretty napkins and tiny plates to serve all the goodies on. Everything wrapped up in a gorgeous basket I can use again and tied with a big, colorful bow. And of course, some wineglass charms or tags so everybody can tell their glasses apart when we all share this perfect wine basket.
